New Grass Truck 6 - In Service

In August, we placed the new Grass Truck 6 into service; a 1999 Ford F350 SuperDuty, 4-wheel drive, 5.4 V8 engine, automatic transmission.

The existing tank, pump and hoses were retrofitted from our older 1982 Chevrolet K20 grass truck. Electrical connections and the plumbing of the water tank had to be rerouted to fit the new truck. We also swapped the top red light bars from an older grass truck that was taken out of service.

We also added some new equipment.

  • New Rear Aluminum step assembly
  • Rear mounted electric (winch for those muddy fields)
  • New State-of-the-art Motorola mobile radio and antenna
  • Red warning lights on the front bumper
  • New hand-held portable flashlights

Take a look for yourself, it's a beautiful yet functional firetruck.

It's sure made quite a transition into a grass firefighting truck, hasn't it?

This truck will provide years of grass fire protection for our residents. We would like to thank the Trustee and Advisory Board for all of their efforts and support with getting our latest truck in service.
